Faith And Fracking Film to be Screened Across the State

The Faith Against Fracking campaign is in motion, and building up momentum to call on Governor Brown, as a former faith leader himself, to put a moratorium on fracking and other extreme methods of fossil fuel extraction.

In the coming weeks, we will be releasing a short documentary featuring faith leaders from across the state and across traditions explaining the connections between religious and spiritual practice, and the moral imperative to take action to stop the fossil fuel industry from ravaging the health of people, communities, and the environment. The documentary will be screened in churches, synagogues, and communities of faith across the state alongside the short documentary, “Backyard,” which tells the story of five different individuals in four different states each at odds with the oil and gas extraction happening around them. Engaging discussion about the issues will follow, along with a variety of different ways to get involved in the campaign to halt fracking and unconventional oil and gas extraction in California.

To culminate the Faith Against Fracking campaign, we will be holding a Press Conference in Sacramento in the fall, where we will be lead in prayer by leaders of a number of different faith traditions, and will then deliver this letter to Governor Brown, calling on him to declare a moratorium on fracking and other extreme methods of well stimulation and unconventional oil and gas extraction in California.

If you are interested in hosting a screening, or attending the Press Conference in the fall please email Jessica Wohlander at jessica.wohlander@gmail.com.
